Push

While waiting on I Can Do Bad By Myself to start I saw a preview for the movie Precious, that immediately caught my attention! At the end of the preview I saw that it was an adaptation from the book, Push. Needless to say I went out and purchased the book so I could read it before the movie opens in November.
When I first saw the book I initially noticed how thin it was, only 180 pages, so I thought to myself that this book must jump right in fairly quickly. Once I got to the first page, I then noticed that the book was being narrated by the main Character, Precious, who is illiterate. This took a while to get use to since the writing is phonetical and not grammatically correct. I got past this initial challenge only to end up putting the book down numerous times due to the shock of some of the situations this poor girl endured. In the end I felt shame, disgust, anger, and thankful all at the same time. What stood out the most for me is to never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

Fabulous Friday Foto

Gees, Vince, could'nt you have let the child at least get my left eyebrow? Oh, well, gotta love the Twins!

My dearest daddy!

What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... "DAD!"

Happy birthday Daddy, I love you and thank God for you!

Movie Night

Ok, the husband has really taken a vested interest in fishing, well I take that back he has always had the interest but never made the time, until now. Vince has started going fishing (with Huffington) anywhere from 2-4 times a week, and let's just say Yang and I have had it. So this week Yang and I decided that we were leaving the husbands home with the kids while we go out for dinner and a movie! We started off our evening at Applebee's since they have 2 for $20 (hey people, we are in a recession!)then we went to see I Can Do Bad By Myself, Tyler Perry. This movie was awesome! There were so many situations brought up in this film such as rape, depression, and drug abuse. As deep as the messages were in this film, Madea brought some serious comic relief ( like when she was teaching the girl about the bible, hilarious!) In the end I left this movie feeling inspired and hopeful with the mindset that in the midst of my storms, God is able!
